AMY     Mrs. Bartlet, I wanted to ask you a question, but I’m not sure how. ABBEY     What? AMY     Well, if the most they can give you is a year’s suspension, is it…? ABBEY     That big a deal? AMY    Yes. ABBEY    Yes. I’m a doctor. It’s not like changing your major. You of all people should… I mean women talk about their husbands overshadowing their careers....

emmyinabox: I was going to go as Freddie Mercury, but I can’t grow a mustache in time. I think I’ll pull out my Prince outfit instead. I read that as “King of Queens”.  The women must be sassy and beautiful and the men must be bumbling and overweight.

Got teary-eyed while watching The Big Bang Theory tonight because Lewis Black was on as a guest star.  Dad loved Lewis Black, especially the joke he did about seeing one Starbucks across the street from another Starbucks and thinking he was at the end of the universe.  Dad would always call when he found out there was going to be a new Lewis Black special on TV so that I wouldn’t miss it.  I...

A Netflix Koan
toldorknown: If you’re on the one-DVD-at-a-time plan and a certain movie can never be at the top of the queue, is it really even in the queue? When I disappoint you with something I place in the queue as much as you disappointed me with “Used Cars” this weekend, then you may insert “Tron” at the top of the queue or wherever else you might like.

Another reason to dislike Oklahoma Rep. Sally Kern
She implies at the end of this video that her opponent (my friend Brittany Novotny) is going to Hell. If Sally’s comments in the video as well as her other comments offend you as much as they offend me, can you spare $5 or $10 to donate to her Oklahoma House campaign? Or reblog?

This is the saddest I've ever been to not go to...
I am sick so I had to miss my volunteer thing two hours away in Oklahoma City today.  Which sucks because working with the high school kids makes me feel good and I don’t like to make other people do more work. But I’m also missing dinner with my brother.  And that makes me sad. The gift certificate of Dad’s expires at the end of next month.  My brother thinks that Dad would...

With my brother while I’m in OKC for a volunteer thing. Dad was given a gift certificate that he didn’t use before he died. This is so sad on multiple levels.

And it occurred to me that this is the same thought a person would have of themselves if they were deciding whether to quit drugs/alcohol. Or start a mood-altering prescription drug. I hope we can all get through this journey together and support one another.

Which brought back the memory of: 1. The chief factor in my decision to break up with him was his low ACT score (13) and his struggling with remedial community college algebra, all the while trying to give me unsolicited “help” in my Honors Math Analysis class.  Because he was a guy.  And guys are better than girls at math. 2. I broke up with him over the phone.  Right after he...

Yeah, that sounds like a poor excuse to me too. But what’s the point, really? I’m starting a diet/exercise/whatever thing. I’m doing it because I know it will help my depression. And because I...

Probably stupid things to be worried about
Letting you into my brain: My car’s front fender liner is coming unattached from the bumper, which is coming unattached from the front of the car.  The fender liner was dragging against the road, the tire, or both, causing an awful noise and a burnt smell.  I have no idea if this will hurt anything - i.e. get things hot enough to cause my car to explode or fall off and cause me to roll over...

You know how I know my daughter is OCD?
She puts her own clothes in the hamper. The hamper lid must be on. Straight. You musn’t forget your purse/books/soda/lunch when leaving the house. When you give her a bath, her clean clothes and diaper must be on the counter next to the sink.  Don’t put them on the floor next to the tub like some LOSER. The door to the dog’s crates must be CLOSED at all times, occupied or...

My brother had a febrile seizure when he was a baby. I was 3 or 4.  My family was so scared.  I was rushed to a neighbor’s house and my brother was rushed to the ER. Em has a fever in the 102 range right now. I never sleep worth a crap when she has a fever. The human body is so fragile.

toldorknown: thememegeneration: To me, this is a “no duh” kind of finding.  But that’s not what I want to talk about. What I want to talk about is WHO THE FUCK SPANKS A 1-YEAR-OLD?! I take that back. I don’t think I can stomach talking about it. For the most part it’s people that were themselves spanked as one year olds. It’s a self perpetuating problem that we’ll be a very long time...

It was October 4, 2002. Rod lived a few blocks away from the Tulsa State Fair.  So, a few of us from our circle of friends decided to meet him and his sons at his house that Friday night and walk to the fair to see Joan Jett perform. The concert was great.  We all decided to stick around and visit the tent with various Sham-Wow type vendors.  After a few booths, our other two friends announced...
